The Ancient Magic of Sex Workers

It’s sad that so many western religions separate sexuality and spirituality - the two are intrusively linked.  Ancient cultures recognized this.  Sex workers were the missionaries that linked the two… no wonder they are Divine Goddesses.  

Various forms of ritual, worship, and service took place in the Temple of Goddess and, although, academics do not fully agree on the precise nature of the role of the earliest sacred sex workers, there is surviving legal and financial records, other archaeological evidence including stone carvings and painted ceramics, and a variety of literary sources, we can point to four primary functions of the Temple:

  • Ritual

  • Training in Sexual Arts

  • Healing

  • Celebration

It is my mission in this life to bring ancient reverence to the sacred work of the Temple Priestess back to the light of knowing.
